LLEWELYN'S ATONEMENT
After their shameful withdrawal from Rusty Hole, TPOPS had to prove to the house that they weren’t simply a bunch of incompetent nobodies, incapable of running a settlement. Llywelyn threw himself on the hard ground in front of Cadwalader Cawdor and begged for an opportunity of atonement. Cadwalader must have been in an uncharacteristically forgiving mood (he’d had men burned alive for lesser failings) because he granted Llywelyn said opportunity.
“Succeed and The Path of Perpetual Suffering are forgiven and favour is restored. Failure, Llywelyn, isn’t worth thinking about I can assure you...”
++++
Rayborgus had once been an Inquisitor in training. A man of great potential however his ideas and methods had been deemed ‘concerning’ and he’d not fully qualified when he’d fled the system with his warband of unsanctioned robots and mutants. A decade later, for reasons known only to himself - he was on Necromunda. His presence in Primus’ Underhive irked and offended Cadwalader Cawdor (second youngest nephew of Cawdor’s patriarch himself). Rayborgus was a wanted man and Llywelyn would be his executioner.
Llywelyn had solicited the services of none other than Belladonna Escher to track the rogue ‘Inquisitor’ and facilitate his death or capture (preferably the former).
TPOPS were in unfamiliar territory and has inadvertently crossed into Orlock turf while en route to Rayborgus’ last known location. After an exchange of fire, TPOPS were forced to withdraw and regroup. Belladonna had been lost to the depths of the Underhive and TPOPS were faced with no option but to continue without her.
When finally they arrived at Rayborgus’ hideout, The Path found the renegade well prepared and eager for a fight. Llywelyn encountered first hand the abominations of flesh and ceramite which had earned Rayborgus his exile. Gouts of blazing promethium and beams of weird energies forced Llywelyn’s men back (and some down in to the endless depths never to return). Llywelyn offered up a prayer to The Immortal God Emperor as his men died around him. An answer came out of the gloom came a tall, brightly armoured, female figure. Belladonna had returned! The Bounty Hunter set about her deadly work. As Rayborgus looked up just in time from finishing Rhydian, Belladonna was on him, her axe describing a deathly arc in the air around her. She buried the head deep in Rayborgus’ chest and Llywelyn’s heart sprung with His holy elation. Celebrations however, were premature. To his horror and utter disbelief Rayborgus reached up and with a powered gauntlet, proceeded to choke the life from Belladonna. Her eyes bulged and her weapons clanged to the ground. Llywelyn didn’t stay around to witness any kind of conclusion: he was already running. Running from death. Running towards a lifetime of shame as an outcast and exile from his beloved house. A lifetime of shame. Shame...

THRICE SHAMEDThrice defeated, thrice shamed and thrice returned. Cawdor had regrouped in the darkness, cast their dead in to the sump and were now back; determined to eliminate The Renegade Rayborgus and his unsightly host of creations. Apparently they weren’t the only ones hot on his trail. The Fury, a previously encountered gang of House Orlock had also shown up and in uneasy, temporary alliance was formed.
The doors to Rayborgus’ stronghold where shut, locked and would hold the attackers at bay for a while but would inevitably be bypassed. The defenders were dug in and punished their assailants when at last the doors were breached. First came a drug fuelled nightmare creation called ‘The Spectre’. It came bounding out of the gloom and threw itself into the nearest Cawdor, Rhydian went down. Next a horrendous, hulking beast named Chemtex unleashed a gout of rancid flame over Orlock and Cawdor ganger alike. It took five men shooting at close range to finally bring it down! When Cawdor Champion Glyndwr went down to enemy fire, Llywelyn’ courage failed him once again. Panic consumed him and feat took hold.
“Pull back! We are lost here”
The Fury however, held their nerve. Their Leader lay gravely wounded and still they pushed forward, grim faced and determined. On the left flank, Orlock were still working on bypassing the door. Rayborgus was culling his attackers piecemeal. The man strode forth towards his enemy, letting off well placed Plasma Pistol shots as he advanced. Orlock saw their opportunity and pounced, Demolition Charges at the ready. The first blasted Rayborgus off his feet and seemed at first to have done the job, however The Fury were not taking any chances: a second Demo Charge lit up the tunnel and Rayborgus vanished in a fireball. Having suffered heavy losses (one ganger had disappeared into a ventilation turbine) and with their target apparently eliminated, The Fury having done enough, fled the scene.
However disappointed was to follow. It had transpired that despite sustaining injuries that would have killed a Space Marine, Rayborgus had survived. By miraculous and no doubt forbidden means, his broken body had been spared death.
