After seeing some Zone Mortalis Necromunda games last week I'm convinced that's the way it's meant to be played! Looked awesome on the tiles and walls Seb has made. I decided to revisit the zone mortalis project I stared ages ago, but simpler and more like a normal zone mortalis set up than the 2'x2' fully modular wall and pillar system I had planned. I had some wood, I had some tiles so I made the first five tiles for "The Gauntlet" mission: Just needs some walls which I'll do with some sawn planks this weekend hopefully, some filling where the tiles have miscast and a lick of paint. If these work out I'll make another four for a 3x3 Necromunda board.

Walls added and detailed on 3 of the 5 tiles, just need to wait for the filler to dry on the crossroads and vault tiles before a quick sand and detailing. I may have gone a bit overboard with the height of the walls, but the wood was on offer on b and q: Taking suggestions for how to detail the walls and then paint these things!

This project is shaping up nicely. I’d texture the walls with some wood filler the go to town with the weathering afterwards

Genius idea, I wonder if a paint and sand mix would work.

A wee bit of progress, painted the walls with a sand/ppaint mix, just waiting on some 3mm plasticard to arrive so I can finish off some of the wall ends, then seal the whole thing with pva or something ready to paint:

Tiles are prepped and ready, but lo and behold - I've run out of primer. So I made a sixth tile, the ubiquitous blank one:

Cheers Tom bit I reckon this will eat up a couple of grey cans, I'll pick some up in the week. Plan is to make these (now) 6 and see how they are, then if all's good go for 3 more. And then maybe make another 7 for a 4x4. Maybe. All though they've been fairly easy to make, I'm dreading painting them.

So mulling this over and may as well make the other 3 tiles to bring it up to 3x3 board. I'm also going to make a wee 6"x6" insert to go over the furnace section of the furnace tile so it can be used as the regular one wall length section. So far I'm thinking this tile: and maybe this one, which is the same as the air vent tile, sans vent: Definitely going with the first one, but open to suggestions for the other two. Edit: actually I can make something to cover the fan on the vent tile as well, a raised section of floor, so definitely need suggestions for another two tiles.

Made a start on 3 more tiles, had a peek at the forgeworld site to see which ones were missing, ran out of wood for the walls though, so that'll be this weekend if I get a chance:
